5+ Incredible Survival Uses For A Paper Clip
Find Your Way
One of the coolest uses for a paper clip is how you can turn it into a DIY compass. All you need is a paper clip, a leaf, and a small container of water. Believe it or not, these simple things can direct you when you’ve lost your way! Check out the video below to see how it’s done.
Replace A Zipper
Few things are more annoying and inconvenient than a broken zipper. Whether it’s on your bug out bag or on your pants, you’re going to need to find a solution – and fast.
That’s where paper clips come in. These handy devices work like a charm to make a quick zipper replacement. Simply slip the clip through the hole in the zipper tab, and zip it shut.
Hangers are big, bulky, and just a pain in the butt. So how do you hang necessary items that can’t (or shouldn’t) stay on the floor?
Simple. With a paper clip, you can hang a variety of items. Simply unwravel the clip and form it into an “S” shape. Then use it as a hook to hang keys, clothing, etc. Keep in mind you may need a few paper clips to make this method durable enough to hold certain items.
Hold Your Keys
One of the coolest ways to use a paper clip is by transforming it into a key ring. Simply place one end of the paper clip into the key hole, and then bend the ends to make a loop. Make sure to tie off the edges so they keys don’t fall off. This helps you stay organized – especially in a bug out situation where resources are limited.
Secure A Finger Or Toe
Here’s a handy survival use. Let’s say you accidentally sprain a toe or finger. Well, this can be surprisingly painful – and doctors recommend you don’t use it until it fully heals. As such, you’ll need a splint to immobilize the finger or toe.
Luckily, you can do this with a paper clip. Place the clip securely flat against the bottom of the finger or toe. Then wrap it all together with some gauze or tape. This will help the split remain stable so your finger or toe can heal faster.
