Most of the time when people think of prepping items they think of food, water, and shelter. However, what they DON’T think of is some of the weirder, more off-the-wall items.
As it turns out, there are many weird items you can put in your survival stockpile. Items that can easily make a huge difference to your SHTF experience.
Food, water, and shelter are important. But they’re arguably just as useful as the survival items in the list below!
6 Of The Weirdest Prepping Items Ever
Next time you visit a Chinese restaurant, slip these in your pocket or purse. These can be quite useful for eating survival food. However, they can also make great kindling for starting fires. Furthermore, they can even help make a splint for a broken finger or toe.
Wagons are an item lost to childhood. And this is unfortunate, seeing as how many survival uses it has. For one, you can drag around survival supplies inside. This will hugely come in handy if you barter for something large, or if you have too many supplies to fit in your bug out bag.
Perfume Ads In Magazines
Know the inserts in beauty magazines that have that scratch and sniff perfume ad? Well, those may be useful for helping you smell better when SHTF (Lord knows we’ll all need it). However, they’re also awesome as fire starter. That’s because it has some alcohol on it (which is what the perfume is made of).
Despite being a “woman’s item,” pantyhose has some pretty incredible uses in a survival situation. For one, soldiers would wear pantyhose under their socks. This reduces the friction that comes with walking in stiff boots for long periods of time.
Pantyhose can also make you warmer, and can be worn as an additional layer of clothing during the colder months. These can also protect your skin from ticks, chiggers, and any other creepy crawlies you don’t want on your body.
In a pinch, pantyhose can also be quite useful as a fishing net, for holding survival seeds, and more.
Chewing gum is far more beneficial than people realize. For one, it can increase your focus and keep you alert – very important in emergency situations. It can also improve morale, and be a great bartering item. Not to mention, gun can be especially helpful in catching a fish, or in doing minor repairs.
This is a great survival tool for urbanites who are around lots of shopping centers. Grocery carts have a ton of storage space, which can make them ideal for transporting your survival supplies. You can also store small pets or children in these when they no longer want to walk. Sure, it’s not an ideal long-term solution, but it can be incredibly helpful when you need it most!
